Canada. Quebec Province. Over 100 years of amity have passed since cannon battered at old Chambly's towers. The old fort at Chambly, on the Richelieu River, 14 miles from Montreal, was built in 1710 on the site of an earlier fort. It has been fought for, taken and re-taken many times, being held in turn by French, British, United States and Canadian forces. In the military cemetery one hundred yards from its walls rest soldiers of Gen. John Thomas' American army of 1776. A monument to their memory was erected there by the D.A.R. / CN66 Add to clipboard WHYTE whyte-961-is-whyte-8921 Item [ca.1915-ca.1930] Part of Underwood and Underwood Publishers fonds Underwood and Underwood Publishers (New York, USA)
