CHAT Radio fonds

The fonds consists of a program from the 1st Annual Search for Talent Show (1953), and audio materials related to CHAT Radio programming, advertising, and commercial advertising; also contains a show proposal, market analysis, and land purchase agreement for the Redcliff site.
The reels of ¼ inch audiotape are mostly musical, news, and comedy programs that aired on CHAT Radio, as well as recorded speeches from two local Kinsmen Club Sportsman’s Dinners, advertisements, and two interviews.
The 8-track, compact, and digital audiocassettes also contain musical, news, and comedy programs from CHAT Radio, along with a number of local advertisements.
Also contains ca. 1970 portraits of on-air and administrative personnel, as well as early photographs of promotions.

The fonds consists of approximately 34 linear metres (20,707 dockets) of photographic materials, each docket containing the negatives, and some proofs, of almost every photographic session or job undertaken by Freelance Photography. These include family portraits, wedding photos, graduation and other school pictures, photography for various clubs and organizations, and commercial and industrial sites.
There are three card catalogues, one covering images taken from 1959-1961, another for 1962 to 1964, and one for those from 1978-1991. The interim period is arranged by category (portrait, commercial, etc.) and within is arranged alphabetically.
Also included is a selection of newspaper advertisements and brochures for Freelance Photos Ltd., a small selection of brochures and booklets which were produced using images taken by Freelance. Also included are annual financial statements for the years 1960 to 1977.
There are four series based on ownership, time period, and original arrangement. Series 3 consists of 5 sub-series.

Consists of various records related and produced by the Hat Art Club (formerly named the Medicine Hat Art Association) including society papers including the certificate of incorporation, bylaws, and other incorporation articles for “The Hat Art Club” (1978); minutes of both the executive and general meetings (1945-2016 incomplete); financial records (1964-1999); membership and executive information; scrapbooks and a binder of club activities; invitations, programs, and catalogues related to various exhibitions; information on classes and courses offered, attended, or promoted by the club including community art classes and opportunities offered by the Banff Centre for the Arts; correspondence; newsletters; guest books; administrative and programming materials around various community events such as the Club’s 30th anniversary (Celebration ’76); the 1983 Medicine Hat 100 Mural project, and records of the 70th and 75th anniversary programs including minutes; documents related to the Allied Arts Council; a history of the first 20 years of the Club; 28 videotapes including interviews and events related to local artists.
