The fonds consists of approximately 34 linear metres (20,707 dockets) of photographic materials, each docket containing the negatives, and some proofs, of almost every photographic session or job undertaken by Freelance Photography. These include family portraits, wedding photos, graduation and other school pictures, photography for various clubs and organizations, and commercial and industrial sites.
There are three card catalogues, one covering images taken from 1959-1961, another for 1962 to 1964, and one for those from 1978-1991. The interim period is arranged by category (portrait, commercial, etc.) and within is arranged alphabetically.
Also included is a selection of newspaper advertisements and brochures for Freelance Photos Ltd., a small selection of brochures and booklets which were produced using images taken by Freelance. Also included are annual financial statements for the years 1960 to 1977.
There are four series based on ownership, time period, and original arrangement. Series 3 consists of 5 sub-series.
