William Aberhart fonds

Fonds consists of records created and collected by William Aberhart over approximately thirty five years. It contains speeches and publications pertaining to his political career and research notes, sermons and other material pertaining to his involvement with the Calgary Prophetic Bible Institute, the "Back to the Bible Hour" and other groups as well as correspondence with his niece, Irene (Aberhart) Barrett and other associated material. The fonds is arranged into three series, including (I) Political speeches, 1932-1943, (II) Spiritual works, ca.1902-1943 (predominant ca.1918-1943) and (III) Irene (Aberhart) Barrett series, ca. 1885-1943. The fonds also contains two hats owned by Premier Aberhart -- a top hat worn by Aberhart during the Queen's visit to Edmonton, and a bowler hat.

Fonds consists of "An Act Respecting the University of Calgary", a report of the commission appointed to consider degree-granting powers, annual calendars, a copy of the architectural plan of university, an invitation to closing ceremonies (1913), a newsclipping, and preliminary announcement containing artist's rendering of proposed university layout.

The records transferred to the Archives were those held at national office in Calgary only. Further records relating to the Party are held in Ottawa. Reform Party of Canada

J Rodney Sykes fonds

Fonds consists of records created and collected during Mr. Sykes' three terms as Mayor of the City of Calgary, and personal files accumulated during his seven years in City Hall, consulting records after his term in office, publications and other material. In 1975, the Mayor's role was defined as: political, in which the Mayor acts as chairman of City Council and as facilitator to citizens' issues; administrative, in which the Mayor contributes to policies and program implementation; and ceremonial, where the Mayor represents the City at all ceremonial functions and assemblies. The fonds is divided into five series including: (I) Political records, 1969-1978; (II) Administrative records, 1921, 1959-1960, 1963-1985, 1994; (III) Ceremonial records, 1969-1988; (IV) Personal, 1963, 1968-1984; (V) Press clippings, 1969-1977; (VI)Consulting records, 1973-1989; (VII)Publications, 1964-1985; and (VIII)Husky Tower records, 1967, 1996. Series I, II, III, IV and VI have been further subdivided due to the extent and nature of the records they contain.

Fonds consists of records created and collected by Ernest Manning over approximately sixty years. It contains speeches, newspaper clippings, publications, photographs, sound and video recordings pertaining to his political career with the Social Credit League and spiritual involvement with the Calgary Prophetic Bible Institute and the "Back to the Bible Hour". The fonds is arranged into three series, including: (I) Political papers, 1906, 1912, 1933-1983, (II) Spiritual works, ca. 1930-1992, and (III) Personal works, ca. 1940-1945, ca.1960-1980.

Fonds consists of draft chapters of Preston Manning's book, "Think Big" and original records used as source materials for the book. Includes approximately 70,000 words written for the book that were not published. Also includes 11 handwritten journals (with transcripts) kept by Manning during the period 1988-2000 while he was leader of the Reform Party and video cassettes and ephemera relating to his career.

Fonds consists of records created and collected by Dr. Cooper over a forty year period in his various professional and personal roles as student; university professor, supervisor and advisor; colleague; scholar; author; consultant; son; father; and friend. The fonds is arranged into seven series, including: (I) Correspondence, 1958-1994; (II) Grants, awards and fellowships, 1980-1995; (III) Conferences and speaking engagements, 1979-1994; (IV) Publications and research notes, [ca.1973]-1996; (V) Activities, 1967-1997; (VI) Politics, 1970, 1977, 1989-1993; and (VII) Consulting, 1986-1991. Two of the series have been further sub-divided due to the extent and nature of the records they contain. The Correspondence series is divided into four sub-series, including: (1) School and undergraduate correspondence and associated material, 1958-1964; (2) General correspondence, 1974-1994; (3) Student correspondence, references and associated material, 1981-1989, 1991-1994; and (4) Correspondence with individuals, 1976-1994. The Publications and research notes series is divided into three sub-series, including: (1) Books, [ca.1982]-1996; (2) Articles and research notes, [ca.1973]-1993; and (3) Newspapers, magazines and book reviews, 1980-1993. File lists from recent material (1980-2003) from accessions 2002.010 and 2003.033 are not entered into Gencat. These records include research files, conference material, funding applications, personal records, activity files, manuscripts, correspondence, and reports.

Cooper, F. Barry

Dr. F.C. Marshall fonds

Fonds consists of records collected or created by Dr. Fred Marshall during his affiliation with the Western Canada Concept Party and later with the Western Independence Party. These records include the development of the constitution, bylaws and policy statements for both parties, minutes, correspondence and sound recordings of the annual conventions and Board meetings and financial statements. The fonds also includes correspondence, publicity materials and election strategies from several of Dr. Marshall's campaign bids during provincial and federal elections, information collected by Dr. Marshall pertaining to various political issues, and ephemera such as the Western Independence flag, buttons, stickers, letterhead and stamps. Some personal records of Dr. Marshall are also included that relate to his activities as a medical doctor, and his general interest in political issues.
