The Magnificent River Rats Festival Society (MRRFS) was formed in 1997 in Athabasca, Alberta to obtain CRA charitable tax status and to apply for grants to host an annual Canada Day event. Society records include financial records from 2000 - 2014, CRA forms, agendas, minutes, correspondence, feasibility studies and grant applications.
The 1996 Town of Athabasca Area Redevelopment Plan introduces, cites goals and objectives, describes the planning process and framework, and the guidelines and implementation of redeveloping the Athabasca Landing historical riverfront. The plan also includes a budget.
Organizational materials from the City of Edmonton, City Manager Offices, Corporate Communications, City of Edmonton media releases, photo copies of newspaper and magazine articles describing the reenactment of the historic dogsled mail run, and a letter from Athabasca Archives to the City of Edmonton marked Edmonton: 200 Years of Building Together, Athabasca 11.02.95 Alta.
The newspapers were sponsored by Athabasca Value Drug Mart, Athabasca Video, Donna's Hairstyling, and Athabasca Medical Centre. The contents included poetry, reading and colouring contests, local events, interviews, movie reviews, recipes, puzzles and articles. The cost was $0.50 and the paper was published from June 25 - August 20, 1994.
