Demchuk and Evasiuk family fonds

The fonds consists of Alberta provincial business licenses dated 1941-1979 (not complete); Town of Athabasca business licenses dated 1978-2007; bicycle sales records for 1956-1958, 1963-1976; and account books for July, 1937 to December, 2002. The photographs include Nick and Nettie's wedding, their children Gail and David, their house, Lena Demchuk's 102 birthday party in 1996, and Elizabeth Sieminski (Demchuk). The artifacts are a small red plastic piggy bank labelled "Mike's Store", two oil paintings by Nick and Nettie Evasiuk, a pair of Sealtred plastic overshoes in their box, a pair of Trramps black leather laced boots in their box, a men's Monarch Knit hose box, and a tube of Ampollina Dye. There is also a book entitled "Athabasca and the world, environmental verses" by Nick Evasiuk, 1989 and a photograph of Nick and his friend, George Ryga, taken in Mexico in 1980.

The fonds consists of lists of Milo and area businesses, service providers and individuals, as well as organizational and draft material related to the operations of the Milo Welcome Wagon. Also included is a Sample Welcome Wagon Package, which consists of business cards, brochures, pens, pencils, notepads, a souvenir pin, and other promotional material from the Village of Milo and from area businesses and services. Some items (a honey comb, sample cosmetics) were removed for conservation reasons.

The fonds consists of copies of 41 audio cassettes of oral histories from pioneer families recorded by Joan Margel in 1997-1998. The inidviduals interviewed are Jack Sandul, Pauline (Swerediuk) Nedohin, Bill Bayers, Rooth (English) McBride, Mary (Shewchiw) Bayers, Magda Burechailo, Bill Chalus, Dolly (Lazoruk) Kushernyk, Anne (Sandul) Bahry, Elsie Burechailo, Lillian (Zahara) Lazoruk, Ted Kwasnica, John Lazoruk, Pete Kushneruk, Bill Woronuk, Jack Sandul. While most of the interviews were conducted in the Rycroft area, some are from related family members in Wakaw, Saskatchewan.

The original tapes are in the holdings of the Provincial Archives of Alberta, and a second set are in the University of Alberta Ukranian Archives. These copies are for access only. Reproductions must be requested from the Provincial Archives. Biographies of the interviewees are included in the finding aid.

Fonds consists of family genealogy research conducted by Florence Mae Woodward into the Page, Gagne, Miller, and Rosenthal families. Records include family tree charts; reproduction of archival materials such as birth, death and marriage certificates, maps, ledgers, and correspondence; original family photographs and photographs taken by Florence; and photocopies of books and materials on individuals.

Horseshoe of the Peace Historical Society fonds

The fonds consists of files created for the production of "Tales, Trails and Gumbo", the history book for the Cotilion, Silver Valley and Fourth Creek districts of the south Peace River Country of Alberta. Files include the history of the society; township maps showing original land owners, old trails and roads, and community buildings; and 416 individual family stories or historical submissions for "Tales, Trails and Gumbo." Many of the stories are hand-written by family members. Also included are anecdotes, poetry, art work, five photographs, and one sound recording. A list of the stories is roughly equivalent to the index of the book.
