The collection consists of photographs of correspondence, orders-in-council, memorandum, drafts, and resolutions copied from the Library and Archives Canada related to the confederation of Canada and the provincial autonomy of Alberta.

Fonds consists of a copied album, entitled Land Settlement Central and Northern Alberta, 1930, Department of Immigration and Colonization, Canadian Pacific Railway containing 85 images which depict immigrants who arrived in central and northern Alberta between 1928-1930 to homestead, and their farms, agricultural machinery, buildings, and livestock. The album also contains commentary about the homesteaders and the various costs associated with farming. There are also some panoramic views.

The collection consists of photographs originating from the Girouxville Museum. The photographs feature scenes of Giouxville and Grouard, Alberta in the early part of the 20th century.

The fonds consists of photographs and textual material related to the Hicks family and their homestead in northern Alberta.

The fonds consists of diaries dating from 1917- 1922 written by members of the Barker family. The fonds also includes a family history written by Amandalee Knowles in 1992, and an annotated transcript of the diaries written by Roger G. Barker in the 1980's.
