Bamber Studio fonds

Fonds consists of the business records of Bamber Studio, and records pertaining to the Bamber family and includes correspondence, customer accounts, financial records, advertising materials, technical and equipment manuals, and photocopied newspaper clippings. Also includes negatives, photographs, photographic collages, a lantern slide and glass plate negatives that depict various people, places and views in Alberta. The photographs are divided into two main series, the working series (Ba), consisting of images of people at work and the Leduc area; and the portrait series (BaP). There are 787 negatives in the working series and 9473 negatives in the portrait series. Bamber divided his portraits into series one and series two.

The fonds consists of some personal papers of Bert and Miriam Tieman; a folder of unframed pencil sketches and paintings; a large photograph and postcard collection, including personal photographs of the Tiemans and their homes; films of their life and activities; and documents relating to their hobbies and their volunteer work with the South Peace Operatic Society, the Grande Prairie & District Association of the Mentally Handicapped, the Town of Grande Prairie when Bert was Alderman, and the Grande Prairie Museum. Also included is a handwritten "Handbook for Wireless Telegraph Operators" c. 1920. An accrual includes birth certificates for Bert and Miriam, a marriage certificate and records of Bert's including a typing certificate (1914), a military draft certificate (1917), a Lay Minister's License (1981), City of Grande Prairie Alderman card, a news clippping showing Bert donating his personal art collection to the Prairie Art Gallery, a thank you letter for service on the Grande Prairie Health Unit Board, a page of Bert Tieman Woodworking letterhead and a memorial card.

The fonds consists of copied photographs which include images (originally postcards, copies include the text) of the High Level Bridge, an image originally dating 1911 of haying south of Gleichen, and images dating 1914 of the interior of the Rossdale Generating Station. The images have some relation to Robert (Bob) William Gosden, who worked on the construction of the High Level Bridge.

The sub-series consists of an index of material collected from pioneers in the Peace Country of Alberta by York University; a source list of material compiled in the Provincial Archives of Alberta on the Grande Prairie area before 1982; lists of archival material donated by Beth Sheehan to the Provincial Archives and the Grande Prairie Public Library; and cards with the names of Clairmont residents prepared for the 1978 Census.
