The fonds consists of five letters written by Dr. Thomas H. Whitelaw and sent to periodicals based in eastern Canada. The narratives describe Whitelaw’s journey across Canada by rail and his perspective of the town during the closing days of the Klondike. Whitelaw also sets himself a vocal proponent of Edmonton by encouraging people to move west and take advantage of the growing community.
Also included in the records is a prescription written on Dr. Whitelaw’s prescription pad dated April 26th, 1899.
The photographs consist of an image of Main Street Edmonton (looking west in August 1898), an image of one of Edmonton’s mines, an image of mine workers, and a composite image of the Edmonton Y.M.C.A Maple Leaf Club membership from 1914 - 1915.
The fonds consists of correspondence relating to his activities as a candidate for the North-West Territories Legislature, service as Secretary-Treasurer of the Town of Strathcona, N.W.T., officer of the Strathcona Liberal Association and Premier of Alberta. There is also one framed photographic collage, first mayor and council, Strathcona, 1899. Also included are documents relating to Alexander Cameron Rutherford and the Town of Strathcona, possibly acquired by Doug Babcock during his research for his biography, 'Alexander Cameron Rutherford : A Gentleman of Strathcona', 1980.
The fonds consists of photographs of Rita’s and Walter’s graduating classes. It includes the Graduating Class General Hospital 1922, which has a portrait photograph of Rita Efner, and the University of Alberta Pharmacy Class 1920-1921, which has a portrait photograph of W.R. Stewart.
The fonds consists of records pertaining to the Edmonton Public Welfare Board from 1914 to 1925. The records include minutes, reports, finances, correspondence, and by-law. Also included in the fonds are minutes, reports, and cases dealt with by the Visiting Committee, later known as the Advisory Committee, and minutes from the Committee on Unemployment.

The photographs consist of buildings and people in Grande Prairie in 1928, including pictures of main street; Grande Prairie Hospital and staff; the Grande and Capital Theatres including projection equipment; Gypsy Moth aircraft and aerial photos; Winter Carnival celebrations; and Frank Donald’s taxi.
