Slave River Coalition fonds

The fonds consists of textual records,and one copied photograph. All records dated after 2009 are conservation copies. The textual records primarily consist of documents related to the proposed Slave River Hydroelectric Project and various studies conducted in the Mackenzie River Basin. These records include: studies and reports, periodicals, photocopied publications, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, correspondence and envelopes, notes, photocopied papers related to the construction of the Bighorn and Brazeau Dams, a Dene Nation Newsletter, photocopied and hand drawn maps and figures, and overhead transparencies. The copied photograph in the fonds depicts the Mackenzie Delta from an aerial perspective.

Friends of the Athabasca Environmental Association fonds

The fonds consists of textual records in addition to a few video and audio cassettes. All records dated after 2009 are conservation copies. The textual records primarily consist of documents related to the construction of the Alberta-Pacific pulp mill in the Athabasca -- Lac La Biche Region, as well as its environmental implications. These records include: correspondence, publications, photocopied publication articles, studies, reports, individual postcards and a book of postcards regarding clear cutting and the environmentally damaging effects, newspapers and newspaper articles, papers pertaining to the Canada-Asia Partnership in Athabasca and its programs, periodicals, material related to the Northern River Basins Study, FOTA newsletters, papers from FOTA's general meetings, presentations, press/news releases, Silva Forest Foundation and Forestry Stewardship Council membership applications, papers regarding the Special Places 2000 Campaign, Alberta Forest Conservation Strategy Steering Committee reports, and papers related to the environmental harmonization initiative proposed by the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment. Also included in the textual records is an enlarged photocopy of a photograph of Environment Minister Ralph Klein at the press conference to announce the approval of the Al-Pac pulp mill. The audio cassettes consist of recordings taken during FOTA's annual general meetings with the majority featuring either David Schindler or Al Wong. The video cassettes consist of recordings related to Alberta-Pacific Forestries Inc. and include The Alberta Pacific Story, Dr. Robert Dykes' presentation on the medical effects of the pulp mill, and Woodlot Program for WCB Woodlot Managers.

Fonds consists of Advisory Committee on the Development of Government in the North West Territories records (1964-1973) including terms of reference, final report, briefs and submissions presented to the Committee, financial statements, budgets, minutes, reports, correspondence, photos of Committee members and Northern views (1965), agenda and memos of public meetings held by the Committee, Carrothers' diaries describing his travels to the North and Committee meetings, and post-report discussions and House of Common debates. Includes Carrothers' reference material regarding the Committee and the North, correspondence with his wife, Jane (1965), and a speech.

Fonds consists of "An Act Respecting the University of Calgary", a report of the commission appointed to consider degree-granting powers, annual calendars, a copy of the architectural plan of university, an invitation to closing ceremonies (1913), a newsclipping, and preliminary announcement containing artist's rendering of proposed university layout.

Fonds consists of draft chapters of Preston Manning's book, "Think Big" and original records used as source materials for the book. Includes approximately 70,000 words written for the book that were not published. Also includes 11 handwritten journals (with transcripts) kept by Manning during the period 1988-2000 while he was leader of the Reform Party and video cassettes and ephemera relating to his career.

Fonds consists of records created and collected during Mr. Sykes' three terms as Mayor of the City of Calgary, and personal files accumulated during his seven years in City Hall, consulting records after his term in office, publications and other material. In 1975, the Mayor's role was defined as: political, in which the Mayor acts as chairman of City Council and as facilitator to citizens' issues; administrative, in which the Mayor contributes to policies and program implementation; and ceremonial, where the Mayor represents the City at all ceremonial functions and assemblies. The fonds is divided into five series including: (I) Political records, 1969-1978; (II) Administrative records, 1921, 1959-1960, 1963-1985, 1994; (III) Ceremonial records, 1969-1988; (IV) Personal, 1963, 1968-1984; (V) Press clippings, 1969-1977; (VI)Consulting records, 1973-1989; (VII)Publications, 1964-1985; and (VIII)Husky Tower records, 1967, 1996. Series I, II, III, IV and VI have been further subdivided due to the extent and nature of the records they contain.

Collection consists of framed, matted reproductions of drawings, paintings and photographs of prominent 19th century Canadian statesmen. Includes George Brown, Robert Borden, Sir Wilfred Laurier, Edward Blake, Sir Georges Etienne Cartier, Robert Baldwin, Sir John A. Macdonald, Sir Richard John Cartwright and Lord Durham. Versos of items contain holograph notes about the statesmen and identify some of original artists.
