Biographical history

Irene Robbins was born in 1911 in Edmonton, the only child of Arthur Carruthers and his wife Cora McCue. The family lived in Bon Accord, AB. After the death of her mother in 1927, Irene and her father moved to Ontario. On a visit to her grandmother, Dora McCue at Island Lake, Irene met Bert Robbins. She returned west in 1963 and married Bert that year. They farmed SW4-68-24-W4 in the Grosmont area. In 1965 they moved into Athabasca. Bert died in 1979. Irene was the librarian at Athabasca Municipal Library from 1975 to 1982. She died in 1989.
