Biographical history
George E. Camp (1899-1986) was born in Kent, England and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1912. After homesteading with his parents in theEdmonton area, Camp came to Jasper in 1918. He held various jobs including nightwatchman for the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, cement plant worker, surveyor, and outfitter and packer for Fred Brewster's Rocky Mountain Camps. He left Jasper in 1926 and farmed around theMayerthorpe area before returning as a guide and outfitter in 1931. Camp joined the Warden Service in 1940. He started as Warden for the Rocky River District, moved to Whirlpool, Tonquin Valley and Athabasca Falls before being placed in charge of the Warden's equipment shed in Jasper. He retired from the Warden's Service in 1964.
