Nate Siegel was born in Poland in 1906 and came to Canada in 1930. He lived in Montreal for six years and then moved to Edmonton and got into the furniture business. He was a founding member of the Chevra Kadisha and was active in the Beth Israel, Talmud Torah, UJA, the Jewish National Fund and Kashrut Committe of the Edmonton Jewish Community Council. Together with the Zalmanowitz brothers, he ran the community's only Kosher butcher shop for many years. He was a Negev Dinner honouree in 1987 and was honoured by the Beth Israel Synagogue on its 85th anniversary in 1992.<br><br>
