Scope and content

Portrait of Fred Pinyon and Elizabeth Pinyon in front of their home, holding a bouquet of flowers. Fred and Elizabeth Pinyon left Beatle County, North Dakota in 1900, bringing with them one son, Eugene, also 8 head of Percheron horses and a dozen head of Shorthorn cattle. They located on a quarter of land 7 miles west and 2 miles south of Millet. Around 1910 Fred hauled logs from Pigeon Lake to a local sawmill. The lumber was used to build their feed store and dance hall. Their home and feed store were on the ground level and the dance hall was above it. This was located on the property between the Methodist Church and the east alley on 49 Avenue. It was built in 1917. In June 1937 the Pinyons celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Elizabeth passed away the following year. Fred passed away on April 23, 1941, just before his 93rd birthday.
