The diary (1903-1918) is contained in a wage book partly reused by John Frederick Farrar of Penhold, Alberta. The wage book consists of: pages 2 to 119, the wage payments by J. & J. Farrar, wool card manufacturers of Elland, Yorkshire, England, (1864-1872); pages 122 to 127, the wage payments of the short-lived Wrose Brow Fire Brick Company of Wind Hill, Shipley, Yorkshire, England (1885-1886); pages 0 to 1, 120, and 128-457, John Frederick Farrar's diary (1903-1918); and pages 458-461, Farrar farm accounts (1903-1919).
