The diary (1892-1903) is contained in a ledger book partly reused by John Frederick Farrar of Penhold, Alberta. The ledger consists of: pages 1 to 69, the sales records of J. & J. Farrar, wool card manufacturers of Elland, Yorkshire, England, (1871-1878); pages 70 to 92, the sales records of the short-lived Wrose Brow Fire Brick Company of Wind Hill, Shipley, Yorkshire, England (1885-1886); pages 93 to 432, 436 and 438, John Frederick Farrar's diary (1892-1903); and pages 433 to 435, 437, 439 to 476, Farrar farm accounts (1894-1910).
