Biographical history

James Peter Hansen, 1868-1945, was born in Krayhave Folstar, Denmark and moved to the USA in 1888. In 1909 he married Hilda Johnson, ?-1951, and moved to Cochrane, Alberta to work for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). Soon after he settled at Standard and opened a store. He was active in the community and mayor from 1926 to 1935. He and Hilda had seven children, Viola, Walter, Dora, Herman, Rudolph, George, and Severin. The Hansen store was later moved to Heritage Park in Calgary.
