Custodial history

The Jasper High School had a museum club in the 1950s. A number of the photographs had been donated by Parks Canada to the High School Museum Club, which were part of a survey done in 1927 of local businesses. Local residents also donated photographs to the club, as well. When the club disbanded, the collection was left in the care of Marion Kiegerl (Martel) (b. August 25, 1937). When she could no longer care for the collection she left it with her mother, Mae, for safe keeping. Mae donated it to the Jasper Yellowhead Museum and Archives.

Scope and content

The collection consists of photographs of town site buildings; a map of Miette hotsprings, and a report on Miette Hot Springs; a poem written by T.C. Young titled "Passing of a Pioneer" on the death of Mrs. Swift; a copy of Swiftholm summer resort town brochure.
