Biographical history

Jean Thomson, 1898-1979, was born while her mother was visiting relatives near Hamilton, Ontario. Her family had settled in the Gladys Ridge district near High River, Alberta in 1890. She attended Calgary Normal School and was awarded a teacher's certificate in 1917. She taught in the Lomond and Gladys rural schools, near her family home. In 1923 she married John Lineham Morrison of High River. They had five children, David, Helen (Baranek)(Giles), A. Donald, Glen T., and Murray. She died at High River.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of Jean's public school leaving exam (1912); Jean's and John's diplomas (1912-1921); postcard from a friend on overseas service (1916); exercises, assignments, and student magazines, Calgary Normal School (1917); agreements with Lomond and Gladys school districts (1917, 1918); and place cards for wedding banquet (1923) and golden anniversary banquet (1973).
