Jennie Promislow lived in Edmonton, Alberta and was the oldest person to graduate from the University of Alberta with an undergraduate degree. She married Lewis Promislow and their son, Morry was a member of the local committee of Maccabi Canada and an original member of the annual fundraising golf tournament committee. Morry Promislow and his wife Josie had two daughters, Janna and Miki. Janna Promislow represented Edmonton at the Maccabi Youth Games in Memphis, Tennessee in 1982, and in 1985 represented Canada at the Maccabi Games in Israel, winning a Gold Medal in Women's 100M Freestyle, the first ever individual Gold Medal in the pool for a Canadian woman. The annual Maccabi Canada Edmonton Golf Tournament is named after Morry Promislow. He passed away in 2001.
