Biographical history

James David (Jim) Panchuck Junior (Jr.) was born April 1, 1921 in Hamilton, Ontario. He was the son of James David and Catherine Anastasia (Gale) Panchuck. Constance Stewart Gordon was born March 3, 1922 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She was the daughter of Stewart and Elizabeth (Currie) Gordon. Jim and Constance were married August 22, 1953 in Buffalo, New York. They moved to California in the mid-1950s. Constance worked as a kitchen consultant with the Southern California Gas Company for over sixteen years, then in community relations for Pacific Lighting. Jim worked for Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures and later for Walt Disney Productions and associated companies. Beginning in the late 1970s, Jim and Constance organized a Panchuck family reunion, the Panchuk/Panchuck Get-Together, held in July 1980 in Edmonton, Alberta, and a second gathering in 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The fonds consists of the records of Jim and Constance Panchuck and includes one series, Panchuk/Panchuck Get-Together records, as well as the following: correspondence, newspaper and magazine articles, pamphlets and photographs related to Constance's employment with the Southern California Gas Company, copies of Constance's magazine articles and newspaper columns (in Medicine Hat News and Lloydminster Times), records relating to Jim's employment, passports, and an audio recording of "Get Smart" TV show on which Constance a guest.
