Biographical history
James "Jim" Campbell MacArthur was born August 23, 1893, at Connel Ferry, Argylshire, Scotland. He came to Canada in 1910, and homesteaded at Many Island Lake. He joined the 175th Battalion and served overseas with the 50th Battalion and was wounded at Vimy Ridge. He returned to the Walsh district and started ranching there in 1918, and in 1927, married Mabel (nee Rutherford). They continued ranching at Walsh until they retired to Medicine Hat in 1958. James MacArthur died on June 14, 1966.

The fonds consists of: an oversized print of the Canadian Crest (undated); images of family and various Medicine Hat citizens, plus agricultural and hunting scenes.
