Biographical history

Kenneth Eric Liddell, 1912-1975, was born in Regina, where he was raised and began his life-long career as a journalist. He worked for the Regina Leader-Post as a reporter and photographer from 1930 to 1949. He worked for the Edmonton Bulletin for a year before coming to Calgary in 1950 to work for the Calgary Herald. He produced a thrice-weekly column, originally called "Furrows and Foothills", in which he wrote about western Canadian history and personalities. It eventually came to be known simply as Ken Liddell's column. He was a director of the Calgary Tourist and Convention Association and he wrote several books on Alberta and British Columbia. He was survived by his wife, Evelyn.
