Scope and content

The series consists of a map of Korea and Japan; newsletters published on board the U.S. Navy Service ship General C.C. Ballou; three postcards of the Ballou; a booklet from “The Crown News” for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953; and some information regarding how soldiers should spend their leaves in Tokyo, including some Japanese tourist information and postcards. The subjects of the slides and photographs are the peace-keeping soldiers and camp life in Korea, Korean village life, entertainment in the camps and visits to Japan on leave.
