L.P. Muirhead (and/or the Muirhead Bros.) worked in Atlin, B.C. between 1902-1903 and Whitehorse, Yukon in 1904, and Atlin and Conrad areas in 1906 primarily photographing mining activities.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of photographs which depict sluice and hydraulic gold mining activities on Bolder, Pine and Wilson creeks and dredging activity on Spruce Creek in the Atlin area. Scenic photographs of Surprise Lake, Scotia Bay and Atlin Lake are also included in the fonds. Images on the Conrad District on Windy Arm include specific scenes on "Montana", "Venus", "Mountain Hero", "Thistle" and "Big Thing" mines, and street scenes in Conrad, Yukon. Scenic photographs of this region include Nares Pass, Taku Arm, Mt. Minto and Windy Arm, looking down on a steamer making its way across the length of the arm. One image is of cutting blocks of ice on Bennett Lake with Bennett townsite in the background. These photographs by Muirhead were taken from 1903-1906. Several duplicates are included and the majority are mounted on mat board. A photograph of the wreck of the sternwheeler "Columbia" was taken by E.J. Hamacher.
