Biographical history

LeRoy Palmer was born to Valentine Palmer and Anna Grace Palmer (neé Ruledge) in 1921. The Palmers married in 1920 in Ponoka and came to Edmonton in 1926. LeRoy Palmer worked for Edmonton Transit and other small businesses in Edmonton. He died in 1991.

Custodial history

In 1993, Vic and Beth Bryan, executors of the estate of LeRoy Palmer, donated the material to the Edmonton and District Historical Society. The Edmonton and District Historical Society then donated the material to the Provincial Museum of Alberta. The Provincial Archives of Alberta received the material from the Provincial Museum of Alberta in 1993.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of photographs of airplanes, aerial views of airports taken by the U.S. Army dating from the 1940s; postcards and photographs of individuals acquired by LeRoy Palmer dating from the 1930s to the 1950s; visitor guides for Edmonton, Albert dating from 1949 and 1958, Alberta College Calendars dating from the 1930s and 1940s; and a copy of the Edmonton Journal dating from the Royal Visit in 1939.
