Biografie

Alan Marshall Brownlee was the son of Florence Agnes (Edy) and John Edward Brownlee, who were married on December 23, 1912; he had one brother, John Edy. John Edward Brownlee was a dominant figure in the United Farmers of Alberta and following the resignation of Premier Greenfield, John E. Brownlee was appointed Premier of Alberta effective November 23, 1925 until his resignation effective July 10, 1934. Both John Edward and Alan practiced law, for a time together as the firm Brownlee and Brownlee. John Edward Brownlee died July 15, 1961. Alan continued to practice law, and had a long-term partnership with Gareth Fryett as the firm Brownlee and Fryett.

The fonds consists of a photograph of Prime Minister Mackenzie King and Alberta Premier John E. Brownlee at the signing of the agreement transferring control of natural resources from the Federal government to the Provincial government, December 14, 1929, and an original and a copy by telephoto process of John E. Brownlee.
