Biographical history

Arthur Melville Scott, 1869-1941, was born in Ontario and received his training in education in Toronto and Germany. After teaching in New Brunswick he came to Calgary, Alberta in 1906 and for 29 years was superintendent of public schools. In 1917 he served as secretary-treasurer of the Confederation Jubilee Committee, which organized events in Calgary to celebrate the 50th aniversary of Confederation. He retired in 1935. He and his wife Emeline Bertha Howson, 1870-1956, had two children, Arthur Wycliffe, 1901-1942, and Juliet J., 1902-1972.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of records re construction of his new home, correspondence of the Confederation Jubilee Committee, and miscellany.
