History
The Arctic Brotherhood was formed February 26, 1899. Eleven men returning to the north on a ship bound for Skagway discovered they were 'Arctic Brothers' and decided to create a permanent organization for good fellowship. The first official meeting was held March 6, 1899 in Skagway and 17 men joined. The main reason for the existence of the Arctic Brotherhood was "the advancement of the interests of the Northwest section of North America". By February 1900 Camp Skagway had 355 members and Camps had been established in Dawson City, Yukon Nome, Alaska and Bennett and Atlin, B.C.
