Biographical history

Mary Isabella McRae was born in 1904 in Whitehorse. She grew up in the Yukon, but was living in Utica, New York in 1979 and 1980.

Custodial history

Accession 89/25 was sent to Deyo Puckett-Levake by Mary Heim. Deyo then forwarded the material to Laurent Cyr who brought it to the Yukon Archives in 1989.

Scope and content

The collection consists of copies of photographs collected by Mary Heim of her time in the Yukon, as well as textual records of that time. The photographs are of the McRae and Puckett families, Takhini Roadhouse [Braeburn?], Ear Lake, Ole Dickson, Mrs. Wilde and the ladies' bowling team. Included in the textual records are a copy of Mary's baptismal certificate, a copy of "Flashback" a reminiscence by Mary of her family's stay in Whitehorse, written in 1976, three photocopied photographs, taken after 1980, of the "Boutillier Girls", the Gold City Hotel lounge in Dawson City and Mary Heim. There are also two copies of newspaper articles, 1980-1981, about Dawson City and Alaska, which were annotated by Mary Heim.
