Biographical history

Maude McKay, 1899-1987, was born in St. Catherines, Ontario to James and Florence Varley. The family moved to High River and then to Calgary, Alberta. In 1922 she married the lawyer Robert McKay, ca. 1895-1964. They had two children: Jean (McBain) and Jack. After farming near Cremona, Maude and her husband moved to Red Deer, Alberta. Maude was interested in collecting rocks and gems and travelled extensively in later life.

Scope and content

The collection consists of photographs of Red Deer and of the graduating divinity class of Reverend John Philp at Victoria College, Cobourg, Ontario.
