Biographical history
William Mellett was born in Souris Prince Edward Island and came to Wetaskiwin in 1908 with his wife Clara Percival Mellett (1871- 1954) and children Lem (1890-1983), Dana and Bessie. Two other sons, Percy (1893-1910) and Robert Spencer (Spence) would come to Wetaskiwin in 1910 from P.E.I. After arriving in Wetaskiwin, William Mellett found work in a sheet metal and plumbing establishment owned by George Pollick. Later in 1908, Mr. Mellett bought the sheet metal shop, moved it to a larger building and renamed it Mellett and Sons. After coming to Wetaskiwin in 1910, Spence Mellett began working for his father and soon became a partner in Mellett and Sons. He married Grace Stewart (1908-1993) and fathered a son, Billy and a daughter Barbara. Bill Mellett would take over Mellett and Sons from his father and operated Mellett and Sons until it closed down in the 1980s. Spence Mellett died in 1984 and Grace Mellett died in 1993.

Biographical history
Robert Stewart was born in 1868 in Meadford, Ontario. At the age of twelve, he came to Alberta to find a job. For the next twenty years, he traveled throughout Alberta working on railroads and as a farmer. In 1901, he met Mary Moisey at Fort Saskatchewan and they married in Wostok in 1901. Mary Moisey was born to Stefan and Wasylena Moisey in Banelova, Bukowina, Austria in 1881. Robert and Mary to Whitford to homestead. In 1902, Bob was appointed Justice of the Peace for life. He also worked as a sub-agent for the Land Titles Office from 1905 -- 1912. Robert and Mary had five children: Jean, Jack, Elvira, Mary, and Donald. Robert passed away in 1928 and Mary passed away in 1955.
Custodial history
Donated by Barbara Dorosh in 1992 and 2002. Mrs. Dorosh is Bill and Grace Mellett's daughter.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of materials created by the Mellett and Stewart families of Wetaskiwin from 1918-1986. The fonds consists of these series: 1. Correspondence (192-? -194-?) Series consists of family correspondence. 2. Canadian Girls in Training (1921-1926) Correspondence, booklets, cards and other materials related to C.G.I.T. 3. Presbyterian Church, Wetaskiwin (1920-1931) Series consists f church programs, booklets, correspondence and other materials relating to the Presbyterian Church, Wetaskiwin. 4. Military Memorabilia (1919-1948) Programs, booklets and other materials relating to the First and Second World Wars. 5. Miscellaneous (1922- 1986) Series consists of news clippings, programs, photographs and other material collected by the Mellett and Stewart families.
