Biographical history

Mr. A. Moss was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Alberta after World War I. In 1925 he left the RCMP and took a position as Inspector with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). He retired from the OPP in 1954 with the rank of Deputy Commissioner and he and his wife returned to Edmonton where Moss instructed at the City of Edmonton Police School for several years. Moss and his wife had two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Sexsmith and Mrs. Kathleen Flower. Moss died on September 8, 1970, predeceased by his wife, who died in 1964.

Custodial history

Mr. W.F. Sexsmith deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1970 on behalf of his wife, Dorothy Sexsmith, who died on October 5, 1970.

Fonds consists of two letters from Emily Murphy, also known as Janey Canuck, to Inspector A. Moss.
