Biographical history

P.R. Lockie, 1900-[1976?] was born in St. Helens, England and moved to B.C. during the Depression. He worked in Vancouver as a draftsperson for Dominion Engineering before moving to Powell River where he worked as a lifeguard and draftsperson for the Powell River Company's pulp and paper mill. His work for the mill included measuring the snow pack at the head of Powell Lake each May and September, which he did for over 30 years. As a member of the B.C. Mountaineering Association, Lockie travelled and climbed throughout the interior and northern B.C. area; Lake O'Hara was one of his favorite places. One of the peaks at the head of the Powell Lake is named Lockie's Table, after PR Lockie.
