Biographical history

Sarah Stewart, 1863-1945, was born in northern Ireland and married David Patterson at Uddington, Scotland. They had three children, David, Agnes Leslie "Nancy", and Sadie Stewart. David Patterson Sr. died at an early age, and Sarah and the two daughters emigrated to Red Deer, Alberta in 1906, where David Jr. had already attempted to establish a business in 1905. David Jr. married his fiancée Kate and settled on northern Vancouver Island around 1906 or 1907. Nancy Patterson, 1886-1927, married Alfred Thompson Turner, b. 1884, a physician. She had one daughter, Audrey (Hunt), 1917?- . Sadie Patterson, 1888-1962, married Donald Thatcher, 1885?-1972, a church organist and piano tuner

The photographs were found by Isobel Nestransky in the Red Deer house formerly occupied by Sadie and Donald Thatcher

Scope and content

The fonds consists of portraits of members of the Patterson, Turner, and Thatcher families, and a letter from Audrey Hunt, accompanied by photocopies of the photographs annotated to identify them
