Biographical history

Paul-Emile Mercier was a civil engineer in the Yukon in 1901. He was the son of Honore Mercier, premier of Quebec from 1887-1891, and Virginie St. Denis. He met and married (June 1901) Marie-Louise Tache in Whitehorse. Her father, Jean Tache, was an engineer working on the construction of the White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) railway.

Custodial history

The photographs and textual records belong to Mme Jeanne Mercier Depocas, daughter of Paul-Emile Mercier. The material was brought to the Yukon Archives by Yann Herry, president of the Association of Franco-Yukonnaise.
