Institutionele geschiedenis

This collection was compiled in 1955 and 1956 by Margaret Loggie (de Fernandez), 1933- , and Isabel Loggie, 1928-, Glenbow staff members, who were commissioned to gather information about personalities and the general history of the Peace River country of Alberta and British Columbia, including the towns of Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Dunvegan, Peace River, Spirit River, Fort St. John, Fort Vermilion, High Prairie, Valhalla, Hudson Hope's, among others. Margaret later completed an historical novel on the Peace River area as her master's thesis in English: One man in his times / Margaret Loggie, MA thesis, University of Alberta, 1960. D. Isabel Loggie began a master's degree in history at the University of Alberta with a thesis entitled "The establishment of fur trade posts on the Peace River to 1870". It was not completed. In 1952 she completed an education degree and taught school for many years. Margaret worked for many years as a Foreign Service worker in Lebanon and Mexico.

The collection consists of typescripts of interviews (1955-1956), reminiscences, diaries (1897-1914), and autobiographies; files of biographical and historical notes; and photographs of pioneers and the area. Includes typescripts of Fort St. John fur trade post journal (1866-1924), and Fort Dunvegan post account book (1837-1864).
