Biographical history

Thomas Lionel Perry, 1876-1957, was born in England, and came to the Balzac (Beddington) area of Alberta around 1900. He farmed there for over 40 years. In 1911 he married Annie May Gibson, 1878-1964, who was also born in England. She came to Calgary in 1890, graduated from the Calgary General Hospital School of Nursing in 1907, and practiced as a nurse in British Columbia, California, and at the Calgary General Hospital before her marriage. She then performed midwife services for her neighbours until the 1920s. The Perrys had two children, Jessie (Kerfoot), 1912-2011, and Lionel. Their daughter Jessie attended St. Hilda's School for Girls in Calgary. They retired to Victoria in 1953.
