Biographical history
Peter Anthony Prince, 1836-1925, was born near Three Rivers, Quebec and learned the millwright trade from his father. He worked at that trade in Ontario with J.E. Price from 1853-1859, had a lumber and hotel business in Mara Township, 1859-1865, and then went to northern Wisconsin, USA as an employee of the Northwest Lumber Company and Eau Claire Lumber Company. He travelled to Alberta in 1885 and returned later to develop logging operations near Calgary for the Eau Claire and Bow River Lumber Company. He was also involved in other Calgary businesses including the Calgary Water Power Company, Calgary Water Company, Calgary Milling Company, Calgary Iron Works, and the Prince-Kerr Ranch Company. In 1857 he married Margaret Corrigan, 1838-1898, and they had two children John Enoch, 1858-1947, and Rosanna (Eide), 1861-1935. Rosanna and her husband Peter Eide, 1851-1910, worked for Prince; they had four children: Margaret Elizabeth, 1879-1933, John, 1881-1958, Mabel Anna (Longpre), 1883-1963, and Chester, 1888-?. Prince later married Emma Howe, 1856-1902, Rosa Douglas, 1849-1907, and Emily Whitlock, 1861-1944. For further information see "Peter A.
