The Pleasant Valley Social Society was founded in the Athabasca area in 1954 and incorporated in 1955. The society was given title to the Big Coulee School (NE 33-67-22-W4). The society, also known as the Big Coulee Club, operated a local hall and organized social events in the community. The Pleasnt Valley Social Society folded in 1998.
