Biographical history
Ralph Carpenter was a driver for the U.S. Army's 477 Quartermaster Unit during the construction of the Alaska Highway. His unit received their basic training in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1987 he was living in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of two albums of original photographs and 55 loose photographs, depicting views of the 477th unit at basic training in Wyoming, and during construction of the Alaska Highway. Included are views of Dawson Creek, the Teslin area, truck convoys, bridges, Suicide Hill, soldiers, wild animals, native people and camps, airplanes and ambulances.
