History
James N. Rankin, 1847-1931, was born in Newfoundland and came to Calgary, Alberta in 1876. He was a conductor on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) line between Calgary and Edmonton. From about 1907 to 1931 he was a tax collector for the City of Calgary. He and his wife had five daughters and a son. Family members included Harriet, Mary, Harold and Hilda. They lived at 509 - 23rd Avenue SE, and attended the Wesley United Church.
