Historique
Revillon Freres of Paris, France entered fur retailing in 1723 but in the 19th century branched into wholesaling and local fur trading. In 1899 they opened a warehouse in Edmonton, Alberta and in 1903 purchased the business of James Kennedy Cornwall and Fletcher Bredin. By that year Revillon Freres operated twenty-three establishments across Canada. The company fell on hard times after 1918 and between 1925 and 1936 they gradually sold their business to the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC).
