Biographical history

Robert F. Merkley, ?-1950, and his wife Winnifred Ann Merkley, 1890-1973, were originally from Ontario. They came to Calgary in the early 1920s. Robert was a dairyman who worked as a salesman for Central Creameries, the Cooperative Milk Company, and later the Alberta Produce Company. He retired in 1949.

Custodial history

This fonds was found in the attic of a house at 1319 Centre Street S. in Calgary. The house originally number 1313 Centre Street, belonged to the Merkleys. Hank Beeksma, who lived in the house in 1987, found and donated the records.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of personal correspondence, certificates, butter labels, photographs of butter sculptures, and miscellaneous financial records.
