Biographical history
Ronald Lester "Ron" Dale, 1910-1997, was born at Red Deer, Alberta. In 1927 he joined a militia unit, the 78th Battery, 13th Canadian Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, and was on active service in Europe during the Second World War. He retired with the rank of major in 1955. In civilian life he worked in the wholesale business, operating Dale Agencies and later managing the Red Deer office of Bridge Brand Produce. He was a member of Red Deer City Council from 1966 to 1974 and 1977 to 1980. He was active in the Royal Canadian Legion, Gaetz Memorial United Church, Central Alberta Pioneers and Old-Timers' Association, and the Red Deer and District Museum. He was named Citizen of the Year in Red Deer in 1984. He and his wife Gladys had three daughters, Sarah Lesley (Miller), Rachel Joan, and Rebecca Jane.
