Biographical history

Samuel Stead, 1924-2014, was born in Lesmahagow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1928. They homesteaded near Irma, Alberta. Sam served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) during the Second World War and on his return married Anne McLeod McAllan, 1923-2010. He was employed with Canada Post in Lethbridge, Alberta, Radville, Saskatchewan, and Fernie, British Columbia. His passion was square dancing and he called for many clubs in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. He and Anne had two children, Margaret (Orsten) and Gordon.
