Biographical history

Thomas Scott, ?-1934, was born in Galt, Ontario and came to Calgary in 1883. He hauled freight for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and served in the Alberta Mounted Rifles during the 1885 Riel Rebellion (North West Rebellion). He homesteaded at Millarville, Alberta and worked at Cochrane for the CPR. He married Elizabeth McBain, ?-1950, in 1898 and they had two children, Murray and Mabel. In 1906 the family returned to Millarville. Mabel married Douglas Henry Sanderson, ?-1969. Douglas was the son of Lorn Sanderson, 1871-1928, and Isobel Mary Sanderson, ?-1960, who came to Alberta from England and settled north of Fish Creek, Alberta. Lorn was active in the community including the local polo team and the Anglican church. Lorn and Isobel lived in England from 1909 to 1912 and then purchased a new horse ranch south of Fish Creek. They took a great interest in the Millarville Racing and Sports Association. They had three children, Douglas Henry, Ian Lorn, and Malcolm Ross.
