History

In 1982 the Canmore and Area Lutheran Mission helped to found the Canmore Lutheran Church (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod). The congregation adopted a constitution and renamed itself in 1984 taking "Shepherd of the Valley" as their new name. They started construction and dedicated their church in 1985. In 1988 they joined the newly formed Lutheran Church-Canada synod. A larger church was built in 1994.
