The series consists of records relating to the family history of the Shields family. The family tree outline was sent to Jack Shields by Nancy Nitschkie. The tree begins with ancestor Andrew Shields born in 1794 in Co. Cavan, Ireland, he married Mary Coulter and they moved to West Hawkesbury, Prescott Co., Ontario. Andrew and Mary both died there. The descendant report covers the Shields family for the next six generations and was created in 2002.
