History

The Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies, a non-profit organization based in Calgary, Alberta, was established in 1933 with the purpose of encouraging hiking on Rocky Mountain trails, of preserving national parks and promoting interest in flora and fauna. A sister organization to the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies, the Skyline Hikers are an independent group of mountain hikers who make an annual week-long hike in the Rockies. In 1984 the group had 498 members, and the president was Mary Longmore.
